Skills IRL

You already have more skills than you think.

Skills IRL will help you spot the skills you have developed through school, hobbies, social media, gaming, caring responsibilities, volunteering, part-time work and everyday life.

You will learn how to turn those experiences into language employers understand, so you can talk more confidently about what you have to offer.

You will explore how your skills link to different jobs, apprenticeships and future career options. You will also learn how to use your examples in applications, CVs and interviews.

By the end of the course, you will have created your own employability profile, including your strongest skills, where they came from, and how to explain them clearly to employers.

This course is ideal if you are starting your career, thinking about an apprenticeship, or want to feel more confident about your next step.

L and D Manager

I joined MBKB in January 2022 as a Payroll Tutor, supporting learners and helping to develop the Level 3 Pensions course. Since then, I’ve moved into learning and development, with a focus on staff development, practical training and helping colleagues build confidence in their skills. I’m passionate about helping people develop, especially when it comes to making learning feel clear, useful and achievable. I particularly enjoy supporting people to build their confidence with technology and finding ways to make learning more accessible, engaging and easy to apply.
